After watching the excellent video on the right I was inspired to make a game you can play.
Unfortunately it seems that too many young people are being taught that evolution is just one of many theories of how we came to be, and that creationsim is another viable option. Somehow there are many people who play bingo with our young people's education and aren't giving them the truth. This game can hopefully serve as a fun way of showing the video's message.
Try to kill the "organisms" you can see by clicking them. Those that survive (except in the random game) will produce offspring with similar colour, eventually the organisms will get harder to spot.
You can either test your intelligence against completely randomly generated organisms, or those that reproduce asexually or sexually with the odd random mutation.
To give you a fighting chance, the games only ever add two new organisms every 1.5 seconds. Exponential reproduction is damn near impossible!
If you miss an organism your mouse will hit bare rock and that hurts! (For five seconds) - A bit easier than losing in a casino though!
The graph to the right shows the number of organisms of a particular colour. The scale is logarithmic. Please right-click and view this pages source.
You can also simply let the games run and see the different pattern of "species" develop.
